The Latin American Region of ISSPD fosters a collaborative community for students, trainees, and professionals dedicated to the study of personality disorders. Our group provides a space to exchange knowledge, network, and engage with experts and individuals with lived experience, promoting research and innovation in the Latin American context.

Members
Glauco Valdivieso Jiménez
Lima, Peru
I am acting as Vice-president, leading the Latinamerican Regional Group and member of the ISSPD Board. I am a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy and certified in Transference Focused Therapy by the International Society of Transference Focused Psychotherapy (ISTFP). I am a professor of Clinical Psychiatry course at the School of Medicine of the Scientific University of South (UCSUR). I work in the mental health unit and Psychiatry service of the Villa El Salvador Hospital in Lima. I am co-founder and medical director of Instituto Peruano para el Estudio y abordaje integral de la Personalidad (IPEP) and co-founder of the Personality Disorders Chapter of the Peruvian Psychiatric Association and the Latin American Journal of Personality.
My main areas of interest are research and dissemination of topics related to personality and mood disorders, specially Bipolar Disorders.
Francisco Ramos Rivera

I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology and am a certified therapist in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy by the ISTFP. I am an adjunct professor at Ponce Health Sciences University, Ponce Campus, Carlos Albizu University, San Juan Campus, Interamerican University, San Germán Campus, and TFP Latin America. I also supervise graduate students in psychology at Ponce Advanced Medical Group in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where I also serve as therapist. Since 2021, I am a member of the clinical registry of the International Society of Neuropsychoanalysis. My clinical and research interests are focused on personality disorders and the therapeutic process.
Diana Téllez Quiroz

I am a psychotherapist with extensive experience in personality disorders, certified as a supervisor in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) by the ISTFP, with advanced training in Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and additional studies in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.
I hold a Doctorate and a Master’s Degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Asociación Psicoanalítica Mexicana, A.C., where I completed my academic training. Additionally, I am a certified evaluator of the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) by the University of California, Berkeley. I served as Head of the Psychology Department in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service at the Mexican Social Security Institute (2016–2024).
Currently, I dedicate myself to clinical psychotherapy, supervision, and training of therapists across Latin America and the United States, with a specialized focus on the treatment of personality and attachment disorders.

Karina Jiménez
Costa Rica
I am psychologist residing in Costa Rica. I specialize in clinical psychology and hold two master´s degrees: one in health psychology and the other in personality disorders. Since 2012, I have worked in the social security system, specifically at the Costa Rican Mental Health Hospital, focusing on adolescent population. I also work in private practice. My areas of expertise primarily include the diagnosis and treatment of various conditions, including personality disorders and trauma. I have training in several approaches, with particular specialization in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and EMDR. I have published books to support therapeutic processes for individuals with emotional dysregulation and have also contributed to research journals. Currently, I serve as a board member of the Costa Rican Association of Trauma (ACOTRAUMA).
Alejandra Díaz Arabia

I am a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with training in Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and General Psychiatric Management (GPM) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
I am working at the Peruvian Institute for the Study and Comprehensive Approach to Personality (IPEP) in Lima, where I provide assessment and psychotherapy for personality disorders. I am currently pursuing a certification as a TFP therapist from the International Society of Transference Focused Psychotherapy (ISTFP). I am also part of the Student Section Committee of the ISSPD as Social Media/Relations Chair.
I am interested in researching personality disorders, especially borderline and narcissistic personality disorders and their treatment from psychodynamic perspectives such as Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) and Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).
